Good Friday Needs a Little Re-Branding

The other day, I was talking to some very pleasant Catholic woman from outside of Seattle, and she was glad to be down at the desert resort city near where I live staying warm and dry. Because it was Good Friday, and she’d just come from the church we talked a little bit about what Good Friday intended, and its religious significance. No, it was not new info for me even though I’m not a spiritual type, however I did challenge her on the need to alter the title of Good Friday. Alright so let us talk about this for second shall we?See more wishes of good friday 2018 on our website.

She reminded me that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and that was a good thing he did for us. That doesn’t make any sense whatsoever to me personally, since I reside in a long run, Jesus allegedly lived in a past period, and that I did not ask him to do that for me anyway. But that’s how the storyline goes, but I’d submit to you that it wasn’t a very good evening for Jesus, since they did push spikes through his hands as the story goes, and shattered his ankles and what have you, that must’ve been an incredibly painful experience, not especially the best way to die if you know what I mean?

On the day that the Romans killed Jesus, or instead nailed him to the cross to die, it looks like the Christians are calling this a good, as in Good Friday? But if this was a gift to humanity, dying on the cross for our sins, then I presume that it needs to be called “Gift Friday” or perhaps, “Good Gift Friday,” instead of just Good Friday? Well, it’s a vacation, it’s great to have a day off, so I’m not whining even though I am not religious, or that the whole thing sounds quite hokey to mepersonally, I am just glad to get off the day, and relax, it gives me time to reflect and think about things like that I guess?

Everyone wants a vacation, and a reason to celebrate, and calling something Good Friday puts everybody in a good mood, and since it’s great, it must be a great holiday. If the Christians were to rebrand Good Friday as good Gift Friday, then maybe we can turn it into a commercial holiday just because we have Christmas. And that would be even better, and rather great for neighborhood retailers.

No, I am not trying to make fun of the holiday, what I’m attempting to do here is to provoke a response, spark your emotion one way or another, and cause you to think. And since I just did that, I’ll finish this article now – please consider this.
